The '2025 Disinfection and Sterilization Conference' sponsored by the China Health and Pest Control Association and co-organized by the Wuhan Pest Control Association and other units kicked off in Wuhan, Hubei on March 5. About 1,500 academicians, infectious disease experts, disinfection experts, disease prevention and control experts, vector prevention and control experts, as well as presidents of pest control associations across the country, representatives of pest control and disinfection member companies, and health and pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers attended the meeting.

Liang Xiaofeng, president of the China Health Pest Control Association, said in his speech that the current global public health situation is complex and changeable, and the coexistence of new infectious diseases and traditional vector threats has put forward higher requirements for related work. Hosting this conference in Wuhan not only pays tribute to the spirit of Wuhan, but also looks forward to the future of the industry.

During the meeting, Xu Jianguo, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a medical microbiologist, gave a keynote report entitled 'Influenza'. He suggested that in provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) where outbreaks of avian influenza in animals, epidemics and human cases of avian influenza occurred, slaughter and sale of live poultry in vegetable markets and farmers markets should be temporarily banned to prevent and reduce human cases of avian influenza. The report also pointed out that the nasopharyngeal flora has two sides, which not only helps to prevent respiratory infections, enhance host immunity, and resist foreign microbial invasion, but also is the source of many respiratory pathogens and is associated with a variety of respiratory diseases. The replication speed of influenza A virus is fast, reaching a peak in 24 hours, and its stability on the surface of cloth, glass, and plastic is lower than that of novel coronavirus. In the season of high incidence of acute respiratory diseases such as influenza, children and the elderly are the key infected people. Washing hands frequently, wearing masks, keeping distance, reducing gathering, and ventilating more are the most reliable protection methods.

During the conference, Huang Xiaoyun, vice president of the China Health and Pest Control Association, released the theme of World Pest Day on June 6, 2025 - 'Green pest control, healthy home', calling on the society to pay attention to the problem of pests, and advocating all walks of life to participate in various forms of pest control popular science public welfare activities. The conference also played the 2024 'Inheritance' public welfare film of special contribution figures in the industry, released industry group standards, self-discipline conventions, ethical codes and other information, specially invited psychological experts to give psychological counseling reports, invited business executives to make industry situation analysis reports, and carried out the first pest control industry lecturer competition and disinfection and sterilization pharmaceutical products exhibition exchange.

It is also understood that the conference also held a series of activities such as academic reports, CEO summits, case reviews, and a number of trainings, which promoted the exchange and development of the health pest control industry.
