"Green pest control, healthy home" World Pest Day 2025 national home public welfare event held in Beijing

June 6 this year is the ninth World Pest Day. The theme of the public welfare activity is 'Green pest control, healthy home'.

On June 6, the '2025 World Pest Day National Home Public Welfare Event' jointly sponsored by the China Health Pest Control Association and the Beijing Pest Control Association was successfully held in Beijing. In traditional pest control, over-reliance on chemical pesticides can easily lead to environmental pollution, increased pest resistance and ecological damage. ' The theme activity of 'Green pest control, healthy home' organically combines public health governance, environmental protection and sustainable development, advocates the realization of scientific pest prevention and control management through green prevention and control technologies including biological control, physical control, ecological engineering and other means, guides the public to scientifically recognize pest prevention and control issues, improves public awareness and acceptance of green prevention and control technologies, actively chooses to use green prevention and control products, forms 'green life' habits, and promotes the sustainable development of pest prevention and control.

Zeng Xiaopeng, president of the Beijing Pest Control Association, said in his speech that the current pest control work is facing unprecedented challenges. With global climate change and accelerated urbanization, the risk of vector-borne infectious diseases such as dengue fever has become increasingly prominent. Pests not only pose a serious threat to human health, but also pose multiple challenges to food safety, ecological environment and urban construction. The establishment of World Pest Day provides us with an important opportunity. It not only promotes the in-depth development of pest control work in our country, but also builds an important platform to raise national health awareness. 

During the conference, an 'Academician Media Talks About Health' activity was held to jointly discuss the biggest challenges that may be faced by infectious diseases in the future and suggestions for the public to prevent infectious diseases scientifically. At the same time, a reporter's question-and-answer activity was held on the issue of summer pests. An expert science lecture on 'Green Pest Control, Healthy Home' was also held to introduce common pests and hazards to the people, and put forward practical suggestions on how to develop good daily hygiene habits, scientifically prevent and control pests, and keep away from pest infestations. In order to better promote the education of vector biology in the whole society, guide the public to establish the concept of scientific pest control, and reduce the harm of vector infectious diseases to people's health, the China Health and Pest Control Association plans to recruit 'World Pest Day Public Science Education Base' across the country. During the event, the launch ceremony of the 'World Pest Day Public Science Education Base' project was held.

In front of the 'Inquiry Desk of Pest Experts', citizens interacted with experts on pest problems at zero distance on the spot. By watching a variety of activities such as pest specimens and popular science exhibition boards, popular science turntable lottery games, etc., citizens gained a deeper understanding of pest knowledge and hazards, and mastered scientific pest removal tips. The activities played an important role in establishing good hygiene concepts and developing good hygiene habits for citizens.
